2020 INAUGURAL FOUNDERS AWARD RECIPIENT
Patricia C. Phillips
Pat Phillips has been a champion of domestic violence services for over 40 years. It all started in 1979 with a Junior League initiative to identify the most pressing, unmet need in Stamford and the surrounding communities. Immediately Pat and nearly 100 of her co-members identified domestic violence. Pat recounts, “It was a stunning decision, given that few people at the time knew anything about domestic violence, and even fewer wanted to talk about it.” Without hesitation, Pat took on one of the most challenging, misunderstood and hidden issues of the day. Forty years later, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center as we know it today is thanks to Pat’s vision, leadership, fortitude and indomitable spirit.
