Peace WorkSHOPs

PeaceWorkSHOPS are conducted onsite at afterschool programs, faith communities, youth organizations and social service agencies for students in pre-K to twelfth grade. PeaceWorkSHOPS programs are offered both during the school year and during summer and other vacation times. Curriculum is interactive and age-appropriate and is an extension of PeaceWorks School Based Programs. Because PeaceWorkSHOPS programs are conducted over a period of weeks, they allow for consistency and the ability to build upon knowledge and learning. Please see below for examples of PeaceWorkSHOPS. We will also be happy to work with individual organizations to develop customized programming.

Puppets for Peace

Children will become aware of what their bodies look and feel like when they experience different emotions, such as sadness, excitement or anger. They will make different puppets representative of each emotion that will help them to express themselves appropriately and communicate effectively with others.

Take a Walk in My Shoes

Empathy is the ability to understand the thoughts and feelings of another person. Interactive and creative exercises allow young children to feel what others experience and help them begin to develop empathy and compassion.

Constructing Peace

Pre-School to Third Grade

Using the Stop, Take 5 & Think method, students will discuss how, when they get angry, they can access their own “anger tool box.” The tool box will include their own individual self-calming and problem solving “tools.”
