In October 2009, Susan Delaney, the director of DVCC's newly-created Medical Advocacy Project, spent several days gathering information and ideas from advocates in Pennsylvania, where domestic violence medical advocacy programs had been well established for more than a decade. Much of what she learned would prove invaluable as DVCC worked to develop the first domestic violence medical advocacy program in the state of Connecticut. This past May, Delaney again traveled to another state because of MAP - but this time she was the one sharing her experience and expertise.

Invited by the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence to speak about medical advocacy at its 2013 Biennial Training Institute Conference, Delaney conducted a workshop for staff from some of the coalition's 42 member agencies. Several of the agencies had just begun to consider the idea of a medical advocacy program, while others were further along in the process and had their own experiences to contribute.
