On March 17, DVCC launched its latest initiative, a Legal Consultation Clinic for DVCC clients. Five volunteer attorneys met with 16 clients to answer questions and offer expertise on civil legal issues, including divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, housing, immigration, paternity and wills.
"We had excellent reviews from all who participated, plus some great suggestions for improvements," said Andrea Dahms, an attorney and Domestic Violence Victim Advocate for DVCC. "It was wonderful to see how excited the women were to have this resource and the enthusiasm of the attorneys who met with them."
Clients provided written evaluations, giving high marks for the information provided and the professionalism of those who provided it.
"I had all my questions answered and felt that I had hope. It was a very positive consultation. I understand more," wrote one client.Another said the experience with the clinic more than met her expectations and that the information she received was "invaluable".
Dahms said they hoped to be able to offer the clinic once a month. The next one is scheduled for April 21 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Stamford
