October Awareness Presentation

DVCC and UCONN-Stamford's Women's Studies and Zero Tolerance programs will host a presentation by Professor Jenny Rivera on "Domestic Violence in the Latina Community" as part of October Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event, which is open to the public and free of charge, will be held Tuesday October 19 at 6 p.m. at UCONN-Stamford, Room 108.
 
Jenny Rivera is a Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law in New York City and the founder and director of the school's Center on Latino and Latina Rights and Equality. In 1993 Professor Rivera clerked for then District Judge Sonia Sotomayor and, more recently, served as Special Deputy Attorney General for Civil Rights for New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. She is also a former Administrative Law Judge of the New York State Division of Human Rights and a former member of the New York City Commission on Human Rights. Professor Rivera has written numerous articles on civil and women's rights and was the author of a 1997 study and a 2003 follow up study on the availability of domestic violence services for Latinas in New York State.
