DVCC will offer its next Educational Seminar for prospective volunteers and other interested parties starting September15. The 30-hour course provides an opportunity to learn about the dynamics of intimate partner violence and how it affects victims, families, children and society at large. Information is also provided about the DVCC and the agency's wide variety of services.
The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on September 15; from 6 – 9 p.m. on September 18, October 2, October 9, October 16, and October 23; and from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on October 27. There is a fee of $150 for the seminar. Need-based scholarships are available.
Successful completion of the Educational Seminar is the first step in the process of becoming a volunteer for the DVCC. Because of the sensitive nature of the work and the need for confidentiality, certification is required by the State of Connecticut for all prospective volunteers.
