DVCC counseling staff members continue to provide services for a record number of clients, experiencing increases both from the five towns we serve and from the Latino community. The number of clients from Westport, New Canaan, Darien, Wilton and Weston combined has increased by more than 500 percent over the last three years.

"I think that strong recommendations and referrals from our Domestic Violence Victim Advocates in the courts, combined with word of mouth, have resulted in more and more victims coming to us for counseling," said DVCC Counseling Coordinator Nancy Berkowitz.

At the same time, DVCC's Coordinator of Spanish Speaking Services, Doris Urteaga, has experienced an uptick in the number of Spanish speaking clients, paralleling the growth of the Latino community reported in the latest census. Referrals from the courts, as well as continued outreach by DVCC to Latino communities have contributed to our growing client population, according to Urteaga.

Every individual who comes to our Stamford or Norwalk office can expect to receive professional and confidential counseling and related services, as evidenced by written evaluations from our clients. Over 99 percent commend DVCC counselors for their professionalism and for the wide range of information and help they provide.
