The DVCC deeply appreciates those who take the time and effort to organize fundraisers on our behalf. In August, Weston resident and architect Pat Miller hosted her ninth annual "Girls' Nite Swim" to raise funds and awareness for the DVCC. Pat and 40 of her friends donated $1,450 to help provide fun summer activities for SafeHouse residents. Pat came up with the idea of inviting women for an evening of conversation, refreshments and relaxation around her pool in 2004 and has been hosting the event for DVCC ever since.

And earlier this month, Stamford resident Mariam Alavi arrived in our office toting 60 care packages filled with toiletries and small clothing items to be donated to the DVCC SafeHouses. The items were collected and put together by Alavi and her local group of Muslim Sisters on behalf of the DVCC and a shelter in New York that serves Muslim women.
