Verizon Donation

The DVCC is extremely fortunate to have formed a new partnership with Verizon Wireless, in which the Westport and Riverside stores will donate cell phones to the agency on a monthly basis. In July we received 100 phones to give to clients for use in emergencies and to contact agency staff. The pay-as-you-go phones come with their own unique number, charger and four hours of talk time credit, which may be added to if appropriate.

“We thank Verizon Wireless for their generous support,” said DVCC Executive Director Rachelle Kucera Mehra. “These phones will contribute greatly to our clients’ safety plans, as well as to increased critical contact with our agency”

The partnership was formed in conjunction with Verizon’s HopeLine, its phone recycling and refurbishing program in support of domestic violence prevention and awareness. HopeLine collects old wireless phones, batteries, chargers and other accessories and either refurbishes them or disposes of unsalvageable equipment in an environmentally sound way. All information is permanently erased from the device prior to refurbishing (service should be deactivated prior to donating). Donations may be made year-round by dropping equipment into HopeLine drop boxes located in Verizon Wireless stores. Please consider donating your old phones to support victims of domestic violence and a healthier environment!
