Music For The Season

Music lifts our spirits, makes us laugh, makes us cry, calls us to dance and compels us to reflect. The DVCC recently benefitted and will benefit again in December from fantastic music through two concerts organized by talented and generous musicians to raise funds for the agency.
Catherine Chiocchi, a senior from New Canaan High School, rallied a group of talented fellow students to organize and perform a concert entitled "Love is Respect" on October 27. The musical numbers ranged from classical to jazz to songs by Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, among others.

"It was absolutely incredible. There was just so much talent throughout the entire show," said DVCC PeaceWorks Coordinator Dona McKenzie, who attended the Wednesday night concert with over 100 other supporters.

Chiocchi said she hopes to put on another concert in February, which is National Teen Dating Violence and Awareness Month.

On December 3rd, the CantiamoCHOIR, led by director Marlane Tubridy, will present "A Celebration of Christmas Music: A Fun and Joyful Christmas Choral Concert" at Westport Town Hall Auditorium. The CantiamoCHOIR is associated with Arts for the Community, an organization which provides live artistic performances for the community in an "uplifting, social and fun atmosphere". This is their second concert benefitting the DVCC.
"I believe choirs provide a unique sound and live performance opportunity for an audience and performers to come together and be part of the music," said Turbridy, who said that the concert will also include a carol sing-along with audience and choir.
Turbridy, who is a graduate of the Julliard School of Music and holds a Master of Arts from NYU, is currently the Director of Music at Notre Dame Parish in Easton, CT.
The benefit starts at 7 p.m. with refreshments. Music begins at 7:30. For advance reservations, call 203-454-9023
