DVCC Volunteer Honored

Congratulations to Medha Thomas, a DVCC volunteer, who recently was honored with a "40 Under 40" Leadership Award by the Fairfield County Business Journal. Each year the FCBJ chooses 40 people who have contributed personally and professionally to the community and in the workplace. Thomas was recognized for her contributions through CT-Moms, an online organization she started six years ago, originally as a way to keep in touch with other mothers in her daughter's gym class. The 30-person chat room soon grew into an informational website, CTmomsonline.com, with 400 registered members and 4,800 email subscribers. Along the way, Thomas also used the website as a way to inspire community activism. One of her earliest ventures was a giant tag sale, which raised funds for the DVCC. More recently, the group ran a diaper drive, which collected over 20,000 diapers for several local organizations, including the DVCC. In the past two years CT-Moms has touched 37 area charities.

Thank you, Medha, for all of your many contributions to the DVCC, both as a volunteer and as the driving force behind CT-Moms.
