Interest in DVCC's programs has gone international, as evidenced by a visit last month from Dr. Park Jeong Hee, a Professor of Nursing at Masan University in South Korea. Dr. Park is spending a month at the University of Connecticut's School of Nursing in order to explore its various programs. She has a special interest in community based programs that partner nursing students with vulnerable populations, according to Dr. Donna Clemmens, an associate with the school who accompanied Dr. Park on her visit to the DVCC Stamford office. In her former capacity as a professor with the UCONN School of Nursing, Dr. Clemmens established just such a partnership program between her students and DVCC's SafeHouse residents to provide healthcare services, information and referrals.

In addition to her focus on community health and nursing, Dr. Park also provides school-based health education and helped to write the national standards and curriculum for health education in schools in Korea. As such, she was at the DVCC to learn more about both our Medical Advocacy Project and PeaceWorks Project.

"We were thrilled to meet Dr. Park," said Susan Delaney, director of DVCC's Medical Advocacy Project. "It's truly an honor and a wonderful experience to be able to exchange ideas and share information with visitors from other countries and cultures."
